Mother Gertrude's Pound Cake Recipe

This my grandmother's pound cake recipe. It is easy to fix, simple, and delicious. In a large bowl place:

1/2 pound butter
1 1/2 cups of sugar
5 well beaten egg yolks
2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 cup of milk
1 1/2 teaspoon of lemon extract

Beat well then fold in stiff egg whites. Pour into a cake pan and bake at 325 degrees until done.
